Cardiff- 11/06/2007 Clwb Ifor Bach This was the first of SFA's gigs this year after nearly a year of not gigging and there was no better place to have it than Clwb Ifor Bach. The set started with the amazing song Slow Life although the first few songs sounded a bit rusty. Next some of the new songs from forthcoming album Hey Venus were previewed. Some were more memorable and catchy than others, and generally they sounded more rock than the songs from the last album Love Kraft. Unfortunately there were no instantly huge standout tracks, unlike Zoom and Frequency were on the pre LK tour, but the most memorable of the new ones were Runaway which had a catchy tune and The Gift which had a sitar-sounding guitar backing. Another song that is not on the album, Moped Eyes, or as they renamed it on the night Thirteen Moped Eyes was played, which has previously been seen on YouTube, although the 'hot nuts and endless nights' line was replaced with 'hot clwbs'. The highlight songs of the set were the epic Zoom and Receptacle for the Respectable. Northern Lights was at first unrecognisable as they played it in a 'Teenage Fanclub style', but was still great. The set ended with the usual moshing throughout The Man Don't Give a Fuck, was just a shame they didn't use the Gwreiddiau Dwfn ending instead. This was an at first shaky, but brilliant and promising return for the SFA.
